The client is a wholly-owned private enterprise that has been engaged in the cultivation and sales of tropical agricultural products.
Project overview
The client mainly grows red dragon fruit and honey pomelo reaching a total 50k tons of fresh fruit annually. At present the client has over 12k mu of plantations all over Hainan Island.
The dragon fruit project is located in Ledong City, Hainan Province, with a planting area of about 1,700 mu, distributed in three different branches. The project has a total of 7 pump houses:
Area 1: two pump houses
Area 2: three pump houses
Area 3: two pump houses
The original irrigation status of the project
- The project is divided into 3 sub-areas
- Each branch is equipped with 1 supervisor
- There are 2 pump houses in Area 1
- There are 3 pump houses in Area 2
- There are 2 pump houses in Area 3
- At least one worker in each pump house is responsible for irrigation
- The terrain is complicated with big differences in elevation
- High-voltage power lines and large-area of LED bulbs are installed above the fields
The problem of unsystematic irrigation
- No ability to get online information about the irrigation à if you don’t arrive to the field, you never know what is happening…
- No irrigation planning
- No ability to detect water leaks and react immediately
- No ability to irrigate according to precise amount of water and fertilizer needed
- No pressure control and no flow rate – improper irrigation, no value to water and fertilizer
- No ability to manage all the project sub-areas from one central location
Mottech’s wireless automatic control system objectives
- Applying a remote control wireless controlled system installed on Mottech’s server in mainland China which operates through dedicated ICC PRO software installed on client’s computer and operators smartphones
- Control the amount of water and fertilizer according to the crop and season
- Control irrigation time
- Control water pressure Short-term, high-density rotation irrigation needs in irrigation areas
- Control the amount of irrigation water and fertilizer, proportional fertilization, and quantitative fertilization
- Measure the amount of water and fertilizer

The Mottech Solution
To answer the needs of the client Mottech China has installed a complete wireless system for the client including:
- Motorola made IRRInet Controller and Piccolo XR wireless RTUs which are all managed by Mottech’s ICC PRO software
- The ICCPRO is operated by authorized users responsible for dragon fruit irrigation and fertigation in each sub-area, who remotely monitor and control the irrigation process, pumping stations, network communication, system diagnosis, etc. The ICC PRO software provides the client with real-time information, such as current climate conditions, flow and accumulations values, soil moisture and more critical information.
- Motorola’s unique wireless communication protocol ensures complete control of the irrigation and fertilization system of 1,700 acres of fields.
